We have launched TOOC Organic Butchery by introducing the most popular cuts of beef and lamb.
We will be expanding our range over the next few weeks to introduce other cuts of meat, and chicken.

What is Certified Demeter Bio-Dynamic?
Australian Demeter Bio-Dynamic is the name used to identify the Bio-Dynamic method developed in Australia by Alex Podolinsky, in 1952.
It is based on Bio-Dynamic preparations of the highest organic quality, which has been refined in Australia under Alex’s guidance, working from the insights of Rudolf Steiner and the scientific experimentation of Ehrenfried Pfeiffer.
The practical application of the farmers of the Bio-Dynamic Agricultural Association of Australia (BDAAA) has established Australian Demeter BD as a world leader in the development of: soil structure, the earth on which that soil depends for its fertility and resilience, the growth of healthy plants under the influence of the sun– and produce of the highest quality in both flavour and nutrient density.
The success of the method depends on plants feeding themselves according to nature, through nutrients which are held within the humus content of the soil, not through water-soluble nutrients in the soil water.
Ideally, each farm operates as a closed unit, using the preparations in combination with the soil, climate, and seasonal variation with which the farmer works.
One of the most frequent questions we get asked here at the TOOC Butcher is that is certified Demeter Bio-Dynamic the same as Certified Organic?
Organic and biodynamic are very similar; both are grown without chemicals and GMOs. However, biodynamic goes one step further. It is a holistic practice where all things are considered living interrelated systems – animals, plants, and the solar system. Biodynamic practices create healthier plants and heal the earth by replenishing the soil and adding vitality to the plant, soil, and/or livestock.
Biodynamic farming methods enliven the soil through careful observation of nature’s rhythms. The main difference between organic and biodynamic is that biodynamic farming uses different principles that add vitality to the plant, soil, and/or livestock, whereas traditional farming typically deteriorates the soil. Biodynamic agriculture uses specifically prepared preparations made from minerals and herbs – very similar to homeopathy. These preparations are used to enhance the compost applied to the fields and intensify the sunlight permeated into the plant.
Biodynamic agriculture also incorporates astrological influences. Rudolf Steiner, the founder of biodynamics, believed that much like the moon affects the tides, so does it affect the growing phases of planting and harvesting.
